Privacy Policy — Moddy

Moddy (“the bot,” “we,” “us”) is a Discord bot that converts Minecraft
modpacks between CurseForge and Modrinth format, and can notify a channel
when a watched modpack releases a new version. This policy explains what
data Moddy collects, why, and how it’s handled.

What we collect

When you run a command:

• Your Discord user ID, username, and avatar — used to attribute the
  request and, where relevant, show your avatar in the bot’s reply.

• The modpack file or URL you provide — processed to perform the
  conversion. The file itself is not stored after your reply is sent; it
  exists only in memory for the duration of processing.

When you use /watchpack:

• The modpack you asked to watch, the channel and server it was requested
  in, and your Discord user ID (so we know who set it up) — stored so the
  bot can check for new versions and post here later. This is the only
  command that results in anything being stored beyond a single reply.

Automatically, in aggregate:

• Lifetime usage counters (total conversions, mods processed) — these are
  aggregate numbers only, not tied to any individual user, and reset
  whenever the bot restarts.

If the bot operator has enabled error logging:

• Failed conversions may be logged to a private Discord channel, including
  the error message and the Discord username of the person who triggered
  it so that the operator can investigate issues.

What we don’t collect

• We don’t read message content beyond what’s explicitly provided to a
  command (an attached file, a pasted URL, or a right-clicked message’s
  attachment).

• We don’t track your activity outside of the specific command you ran.

• We don’t sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers. Moddy has no
  ads and no analytics/tracking beyond the aggregate counters above.

Third parties involved

Running a conversion means Moddy sends requests to:

• CurseForge’s API (to look up mod and file information)

• Modrinth’s API (to look up mod and version information)

These are necessary to do the actual format conversion. Moddy doesn’t
control their data practices — see CurseForge’s and Modrinth’s own privacy
policies for how they handle requests made to their APIs.

If the bot operator has configured persistent storage for /watchpack
subscriptions, that data is stored on Cloudflare R2, a cloud storage
service, under the operator’s own account.

How long data is kept

• Modpack files themselves: not retained — processed in memory and
  discarded once the reply is sent.

• /watchpack subscriptions: kept until removed with /unwatchpack, or
  indefinitely if never removed. If persistent storage isn’t configured,
  these are lost whenever the bot restarts.

• Usage counters: reset on every bot restart.

• Error logs (if enabled): retained in whatever private Discord channel the
  operator posts them to, subject to that channel’s own message history.

Your choices

• You can stop using the bot at any time — no account or opt-in is required
  beyond having it installed in a server or to your account.

• You can remove a watch subscription yourself with /unwatchpack.

• To request removal of any data associated with you that isn’t
  self-service (e.g. a lingering watch subscription you can’t access), contact
  the bot operator at asharts.contact.yt@gmail.com.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date at the top will reflect
that. Material changes will be noted here.
